His Holiness the Dalai Lama will visit the UK from 16 to 23 June 2012
The Nobel Peace Prize Laureate's eight day visit will take in the cities of Manchester, London, Edinburgh, Dundee and Inverness.
The key themes throughout the visit will be the promotion of His Holiness the Dalai Lama's message of non-violence, compassion and universal responsibility.
One of the highlights of the visit will be His Holiness the Dalai Lama's address and inter-action with an audience of young people at the Manchester Arena to affirm the urgent need to foster a culture of non-violence, necessary for building a peaceful world and making the current century,the century of peace and dialogue. This landmark event will be entitled "Stand Up & Be the Change."
The Tibetan spiritual leader will also give public talks in Manchester, London, Edinburgh, Dundee and Inverness.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama's visits to Manchester ( 16 - l8 June) and London (19 - 2l June) are hosted by the Tibet House Trust whilst His Holiness' visit to Scotland (2I - 23 June) is hosted by the Edinburgh Inter-Faith Association and The Conference of Edinburgh's Religious Leaders in partnership with Dundee City Council, The University of Dundee, The City of Edinburgh, The Highland Council including the City of Inverness and The National Library of Scotland.
The UK visit is coordinated by the London-based Office of Tibet, the official agency of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for the UK, Northern Europe, Poland and the Baltic States.
Mr Thubten Samdup (Representative of HH the Dalai Lama) said, "This visit will be an opportunity for people across the UK to hear the message of this globally recognised spiritual and moral authority. His Holiness the Dalai Lama has called for this to be a 'century of dialogue and peace', urging youth to be the change they wish to see in the world. In particular, his message will encourage youth across the UK to seriously consider their unique potential as decisive catalysts for peace, able to bring to reality the better world they hope to inhabit."

UK visit itinerary:
16 June (pm): "Stand Up & Be the Change: Make this the Century of Dialogue"
The Dalai Lama will address and interact with an audience of young people at the Manchester
Arena, Manchester, on the subject of non-violence.
17 June (pm): Public Talk - "Real Change Happens in the Heart"
The Dalai Lama will give a public talk at the Manchester Arena, followed by a Q &A session.
17 June (am) & 18 June (am and pm):
The Dalai Lama will give three sessions of Buddhist teachings at the Manchester Arena.
19 June (pm): Public Talk - "Real Change Happens in the Heart"
The Dalai Lama will give a public talk at the Royal Albert Hall, London, followed by a Q&A session.
22 June (am):
The Dalai Lama will visit the National Library of Scotland where he will have a
private viewing of archive material relating to Tibet.
22 June (am): Public Talk - 'Beyond Religion: Ethics for a Whole World'
The Dalai Lama will speak to an audience including a large number of high school students (aged l6 - l8) at the Usher Hall, Edinburgh to be followed by a Q&A session with questions from the students. This is the highlight event for the 20th Anniversary of the Edinburgh Lectures and will also be webcast live to the online community for Scottish schools.
22 June (pm): Public Talk-'Education of the Heart'
The Dalai Lama will speak at the Caird Hall, Dundee. The Dalai Lama will be giving the University of Dundee's Margaret Harris Lecture on Religion which will be followed by a Q&A session with a series of questions from attending high school students. The full session will also be webcast live to the online community for Scottish schools.
23 June (pm): Public Talk - 'Be the change'
The Dalai Lama will speak at the Eden Court Theatre, Inverness. The address and the following Q&A session with questions from high school students will be webcast to remote highlands and island students with the possibility of live interaction online.
