Kunga Palden is one of
many recent arrivals from Tibet. His parents are poor
farmers in Dege, Kham province of Tibet. His parents have three
children and were having difficulty sending them all to school, because
of China's "one child policy" that penalises any family with
more than one child. The parents after long hard soul searching, decided to send their three children to Nepal, where
they are hopeful that their aunty will be able to provide an education and a better life.
Luckily Kungu and his two brothers
arrived safely in Nepal and first their aunty tried to look after
them. The aunty with her own family and life was finding it
difficult to look after three more children and she decided to send them
to Tibetan Children's Village. Now Kunga
and his brothers are studying and living at Tibet Children's Village,
Dharamsala.
TCV gives special consideration in
admitting children who have recently escaped from Tibet and provide an
excellent education and place for them to grow up.
