Over 26,000 Tibetan children are in primary and secondary schools under the care of department of Education.  Many of the students are able to go to school and do not need help.  Unfortunately it is the poorest family with large number of children who need the help.  The department wants to ensure these children get a fair chance in life and get opportunities to escape from their families' poverty.

Choenyi SangmoChoenyi Sangmo, was born in 1988, Gangtok, Sikkim, India.  She is a semi orphan child from a very poor family. Her single mother works as a manual labourer in road construction, where the pay is low and work is physically very demanding. With these problem, she is having difficulty raising Choenyi and her brother and sending them to school.
